How we handle your personal data
Last updated: 12 August 2026. This policy covers ukdemolition.co.uk, the website of West Yorkshire Demolitions — a CSCS-supervised sole-trader demolition and strip-out contractor operating in West Yorkshire under the trading name West Yorkshire Demolitions. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), the business is the controller of the personal data described below.
What we collect, and why
The only place this website collects personal data is the quote-request form. When you submit it, we collect: your name, company or organisation (optional), phone number, email address, site postcode (optional), and the free-text project brief you write.
We use it for one purpose: responding to your enquiry — calling you back, scoping the works, and sending you a written quote. Our lawful basis is Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR (taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract). Where we keep brief records of an enquiry afterwards — for example to answer a follow-up question or keep a record of a quote we issued — we rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in running the business and keeping an accurate account of quotes given.
We do not use your details for marketing. Submitting the form will not put you on a mailing list. The only email you'll receive automatically is a one-off confirmation that your enquiry arrived. Please don't include sensitive personal information in the project brief — we only need details about the structure and the works.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry doesn't lead to work, we delete the enquiry details within 12 months of our last contact with you — long enough to handle follow-ups and honour the quote, no longer. If you become a customer, records connected to the job (quotes, invoices, correspondence) are kept for up to 6 years after the work completes, in line with limitation periods for contracts and HMRC record-keeping requirements for a sole trader.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or trade your data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own use. Two service providers touch it as processors on our behalf:
- Resend (operated by Plus Five Five, Inc., a US company) delivers the enquiry email from the website to our inbox, and your confirmation email to you. Because Resend is based in the United States, this involves a transfer of your data outside the UK. Resend's data processing agreement covers UK transfers using the standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum, and Resend states it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework including the UK Extension. Details: resend.com/legal/dpa.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and runs the form's backend, and will process standard connection data (such as your IP address) transiently to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
Cookies, fonts and tracking
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind.
One honest caveat: the site's typefaces load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches a font, your IP address is sent to Google's servers as part of that request — European regulators and courts have flagged this as a privacy consideration for CDN-loaded fonts. We don't receive or use any data from this; Google's own privacy policy governs those requests. We're keeping this under review.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to: access a copy of your data; rectify anything inaccurate; have it erased; restrict or object to our processing; and receive it in a portable format (data portability). None of these cost anything, and we'll respond within one month. We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling.
To exercise any right — or complain about how we've handled your data — contact us through the enquiry channels on this website (the quote form or the contact details in the footer); privacy requests go to the business's monitored enquiry inbox and are handled by the sole trader who runs the business. We don't have — and aren't required to have — a Data Protection Officer.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by phone on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to resolve it directly first, but you can go to the ICO at any time.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle data changes — for example, if we add analytics, change email provider, or the business incorporates — we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
